Winter Formal will be held on Saturday, December 2nd. WHS students are allowed to bring one outside guest. This guest needs to be signed up by Tuesday, November 21st (there will be no exceptions to this deadline). Please pick up the form to fill out for a guest in student services. Don't wait until November 21st to obtain the form as it is due on that day.
This week's 🤩🌟💫 SFSD All Star 💫🌟🤩 is......Robert Underberg at Washington High School! His colleague Patti had this to say, "Bob is always going above and beyond to do what's best for the school. You will find him mowing, setting fields up for games, marking fields for activities, fixing things in the building as needed, helping the custodial staff with activity setups, among many other things. His dedication to the school district is beyond amazing. He always does things in the best interest of the building. He is down to earth and a great leader. I am beyond thankful to work for him." Attention all Students! There will be a free flu shot clinic held in the commons right after school on Wednesday, October 25th. Permission forms are available in the Student Services office.
WHS will be hosting a blood drive on Wednesday, November 1st. Students must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with a signed parent/legal guardian consent form). Please bring a valid ID. To register, and for more information, see the posters hanging around the school.

Last Friday the Washington HS Athletic Hall of Fame hosted their 2023 Induction Ceremony. Congratulations to SFSD Assistant Superintendent Dr. James Nold on being inducted as administrator at this year's ceremony! This Season a Flu Shot is More Important than Ever! Getting a flu vaccine is a great way to protect yourself, your family, and your community from the flu. Juniors and Seniors interested in attending South Dakota State University, the University of South Dakota or Dakota State University, if you have not had an opportunity to visit any of the campuses, here is your chance! The Sioux Falls School District will be providing a bus to take students to the USD campus on Thursday, October 26th, to the SDSU campus on Wednesday, November 1st, and to the DSU campus on Thursday, November 2nd. These trips are during the school day so you will be back by the end of the day. This is a first come, first serve event for each of these trips as there are a limited number of spots available. You must have a signed parent permission form signed to complete your registration. If you would like to learn more about this opportunity, please stop in the counseling office.

This morning students with the Okichiyapi Club at WHS celebrated their culture and traditions by setting up a tipi and performing a dance during lunch hour in honor of the upcoming Native American Day. As we pause and recognize Indigenous Peoples, we acknowledge that when students are given an outlet to connect with their heritages they have ample room to grow and thrive.
For any students interested in participating in bowling: There will be a parent meeting on Thursday, October 12th at 6pm in the WHS Library.
Seniors may apply to South Dakota's technical colleges and universities free of charge for two months each fall. During the free application period, you are encouraged to explore and apply to any of the technical colleges and universities. The free application period is October 1 - November 30. WHS Homecoming Week is October 2-6. Our dress-up days for Homecoming are: Monday - Marvel vs. DC Comics; Tuesday - Teen Beach Movie (Bikers vs. Surfers); Wednesday - Barbie's Day Out/"On Wednesdays we wear Pink"; Thursday - Class Shirts or Spirit Wear; Friday - Stunt Double Day (Twin Day).
Friday, September 29th we will be observing "Orange Shirt Day", a day to raise awareness about the experiences of American Indian Boarding School survivors in the US and Native Residential school survivors in Canada. The Okichiyapi club encourages all Warriors to wear Orange Shirts!
